๐บ The Media Guide S7E2
a needle in a haystack
April 13, 2026 โ April 19, 2026

Big news this week! The Media Guide disappeared a bit (again) there for awhile, but for good reason.
We are officially launching The Media Guide web app for subscribers at the [+] and Patron tiers. This newsletter will continue being sent for folks that want it, but if you are more interested in an app-like experience where you can quickly look at all the media guides and keep track of things you want to check out, the web app is the place to be (and if you don't want to use our app to track things, we provide links to Letterboxd, Trakt, and League of Comic Book Geeks for you). While the content is the same, it's a much more visual and interactive experience not to mention getting to look at things farther out in the future and a calendar view.
It's still very much a beta, but it's in decent enough working condition that I figured it was time to let other people give it a go (and discover bugs). Login is connected to your account on this site, so you'll be redirected to authenticate before you can use it.
I have a ton more ideas to add to it to make it a richer experience, but I want to make sure we get the core in working order first! The backend should also ensure we keep this going on a much more regular cadenceโso at a minimum, that's a big win in and of itself.

Easily one of the most anticipated shows of the year. It's going to be extremely tough to top what they did in season one, but they've got a great cast led by Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan to tackle itโhopefully they can find that same magic here.
Fireborn is a new series spinning out of the Lost Fantasy book, but this time Curt Pires brings along Franklin Jonas to co-write and artist Patrick Mulholland. Lost Fantasy is one of the coolest books going, so I'm very curious to see what they do with this new series. This first issue is giant-sized at 48 pages, so I expect big and bombastic things.
I haven't read the comic this is based on (stupidly), but Rosenberg and Boss have been creating my favorite on-going book going right now in What's the Furthest Place from Here? from Image Comics and this was one of their earliest forays together. Going to be fascinating to see this adapted. This also marks a big return for Frankie Shaw, the creator of SMILF, which ran on Showtime for two seasons. The show was really great, but ended up getting canceled after some allegations of misconduct against Shaw on set.
There were quite a few fun albums that came out on Friday. I'm not sure this is the best, but I enjoyed it a lot. It's a bit of a mix of something like the stomp-clap genre you know (and maybe hate) form the likes of the Lumineers or Edward Sharpe, mixed with Vampire Weekendโat times gets a little bit more southern rock or folky, which adds up to a pretty fun record.
Paid subscribers get the full breakdown of all shows, movies, comics, and albums for this week along with access to the Foofaraw Media Guide webapp.
