the splendors of tardiness
Despite falling super behind, I like to think we recovered like a champ and put together another great week here on foofaraw. We opened up submissions for season five and already have a bunch rolling in, which is both exciting and a bit overwhelming. I continue to be amazed that people who have bene published in real fiction magazine submit to usโeven if they are just sending us pieces that get rejected elsewhere. Either way, I think the voice of foofaraw is really starting to find it's stride and become what I originally intended. So thank you for writing, submitting, and reading.
First up, the 7th(!) story from Joel's Cavendish world. He's got tons more in the hopper. I've just been incredibly slow at doing a last proofread and publishing. So expect lots more very soon. This one rolls back the curtain a bit on a moment of great significance.
Then we have our second poem, in a style I love, but don't see enough. Ross touches on climate change, responsibility, and individual guilt in this stream of consciousness poem.
Speaking of stream of consciousness, we have a new regular contributor joining foofaraw with the column "Anecdotes of Delightful Happenstance & Dilemmas." Nick originally submitted this essay as "Boxing Essay With No ADHD Meds or Internet" but I immediately wanted to turn this into a regular feature here and I can't wait to see what else he writes for us.
And of course, The Media Guide, that went out extremely late this week...
It's been a whirlwind of a week and that's only going to continue throughout October, but hopefully I'll see you again very soon right here.
Stay sane and be kind,
โkevin humdrum
