too many murder related things coming out lately
s4e16βthe lost issue...
Whelp it's late. Super late. So late that another issue might come out today or tomorrow. And we completely missed publishing any Weekend Edition material... I've been glued to the TV watching the start of the NBA season (and my sorry ass Bulls...) so we will make this a short... Once the NBA hype has died down for me after mainlining it directly into my bloodstream, we should be back to our regularly scheduled programming.
Somehow we only have one new show premeriing this week, but we have a bunch of returning shows. Seems contrary to the trends, but here we are.
The final season is here. I'm waaaaay behind at this point, but I'm confident it's still one of the funniest shows on TV.
Another show I'm woefully behind on (I'm behind on all Star Trek shows for that matter...) But I think this might be their final season as well?
A psychological thriller mini-series starring Billy Crystal? I can't remember the last time I saw him in something new and he definitely doesn't give me thriller vibes.
We just started season one of this in the humdrum household. It's kind of what I expected: an extended action movie with pretty bad dialog, while still being fun.
And another final season to wrap things up!
A really great indie rock record from Skegss. I've listened to their older stuff, but nothing clicked with me the way this record did. Lots of great riffs pull this together nicely.
I love Japandroids. So I mean no offense, but every Japandroids song is the same. That song is great, don't get me wrong, but it's all the same. Still, sad that this will be their last album.
This record came out of nowhere for me. Really dig it. At times it has that late 90's // early aughts female singer-songwriter vibe and at other times it really brings the rock and even brings some unique sounds that really set it apart from other albums in the same vein.
I only listened to this one once, but it was a solid rock/punk album. Nothing really blew me away on first listen, but it was enjoyable.
Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman follow up Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta's Absolute Batman with Absolute Wonder Woman. I'm a big fan of Kelly Thompson's work, especially her books with Image and I'm excited to see Sherman's take on Wonder Woman as I've never really looked at him as a big two artsist (similar to Dragotta) so it should be fun to see the character's reinvention here through fresh eyes.
This is the big Image book I'm really excited for this week. Written by Michael Walsh (Silver Coin) with art from the up-and-coming Gustaffo Vargas.
The next "pilot" in the Horizon Experiment comes from TV writer Sabir Pirzada and once again, the great Michael Walsh, this time as artist. It looks to play on the exorcist style story for this horror book.
While this isn't an Absolute book, it looks pretty wild and fun still. Tate Brombal is writing with art by Werther Dell'Edera (Something is Killing the Children), which is what really makes this new GL book interesting to me.
Conspiracies arise in this thriller to choose a new pope starring Ralph Fiennis, Stanley Tucci, and John Lithgow. It's getting glowing reviews too.
What's not getting glowing reviews? Venom. And honestly, who cares. These movies should be big and dumb, fun.
I'm not the biggest Boss fan, but I still can't wait to sink my teeth into this.
A poetic and immersive work of art that delves into real perspectives on far-reaching issues surrounding appropriation, self-determination and restitution.
This looks both devastating and powerful...
And finally, the master of suspense. I don't love what they are doing with the fake conversation with Alfred here... Feels both confusing and inauthentic.
Good bye and good night.
Be kind and stay sane,
