Foofaraw Press offers editing services to help you get your short story to the finish line. Want to support a litmag cover its costs while also getting a surprisingly adequate second set of eyes on your story? Then look no further.
Levels
- 1-2,500 words: $5 USD
- 2,500-5,000 words: $10 USD

- Expedited edits (returned within 2 business days): $5/10
- Extended workshopping (30 days to go back and forth on the story via email to discuss whatever you'd like): $5/10
How we edit
included in all levels
- Proofread: Story form, potential typos, and grammar mistakes.
- Line edit: Suggested edits with track changes to improve clarity and conciseness.
- Helpful comments: Capturing the flow of potential issues, things that work, things that don't achieve the intended goal, or things that feel misaligned to the piece.
- Summary wrap-up: A paragraph or two on the initial reaction, takeaways from the piece, how we approached the story, and where to go next.
After completing the purchase, you will be sent a form to provide your story through. Non-expedited pieces will be edited and returned within 14 days of receipt.
While we are open to larger projects, we only take on four edits per month. We highly recommend the following wonderful editors when we are booked or before reaching out to us about a longer piece.

An edit is an edit and never provides a foot in the door. We don't consider pieces for publication while we're editing them. If an edited story is later submitted to Foofaraw it gets zero preferential treatment or increased odds; it goes through the same blind read as every other submission, from a reader walled off from the editing desk.
