A disclaimer for severing the toxic brothership from the arcana of boom

Oh boy, I feel like we've missed so much over these last few weeks. I genuinely don't know where to start. I'll try not to go too overboard.

I do want to mention Foofaraw S3 is heading to print soon and if you want to be one of the 8 patrons you can do so here or read more about it here. I think I've got some pretty cool things on offer and am really excited to get this physical copy in my hands.

Paying subscribers will be getting a copy for free!

☢️ Macon Blair's ‘The Toxic Avenger' Deemed “Unreleasable” — World of Reel

Macon Blair’s remake of “The Toxic Avenger,” starring Peter Dinklage, released a teaser in October. Ever since, it’s been crickets, we haven’t heard much about it.

As weird as it may seem, this is the article I want to talk about the most. It's such a bummer that this film has found itself in a state of purgatory. I wish they'd just pull a Soderbergh and sell it on their own website. Hell, let me do it! Move over Foofaraw Press, here comes Foofaraw Films 😜. Seriously though... call me...

⚠️ Alfonso Cuaron's ‘Disclaimer' to Premiere on October 11 — World of Reel

Cuarón is rumored to have directed, at least, five of the seven episodes in this limited series, with Emmanuel Lubezki and Bruno Delbonnel sharing DP duties.

Whenever I talk about Cuaron, I talk about patience. His movies are patient, he's patient. And I use that as a compliment (in case there is any confusion). He's a master at his craft and his movies always have a well-paced patience to them.

The idea of him doing a series, especially one with Kate Blanchett, is truly thrilling.

🧞 Announcing MINOR ARCANA! — Jeff Lemire

New on-going series written and drawn by Jeff Lemire (Sweet Tooth) coming from Boom! Studios. And it sounds like he's in this one for the long run, which is truly glorious news because I don't think he's really done any long on-going indie books since Sweet Tooth.

💥 Boom! Studios bought by Penguin Random House | Popverse

Boom! will become part of Random House Worlds, the publisher’s genre imprint, with Scott Shannon — who heads that imprint — taking over control of the company.
It’s expected that Boom! will end its current relationship with Diamond Comic Distributors and join publishers including Marvel, IDW, Dark Horse, and Tokyopop in becoming exclusively distributed by Penguin Random House Publisher Services.

Speaking of Boom!...

🪠 Mario & Luigi: Brothership is a brand-new Mario RPG for Switch

There was a bunch of stuff announced by Nintendo back at their June Direct event, but this is what has me thinking I might pick up my Switch for the first time since playing Animal Crossing in 2020.

Tons of trailers to talk about this week—you can find them all Below the Fold—but this is the biggie. It's been soooooo long since S1 that I'm going to need a pretty big refresher. Hopefully they pull it off after some a tumultuous time getting this season put together...
