s4e12—gross and creepy dreams run wild in the night

We made it! I didn't think I'd have this issue out because my new lil pup chewed through the cord that powers our AT&T gateway on Sunday. I went to the AT&T store and they were no help, then I tried to order a replacement through their customer service, but they were closed... So I took a chance and ordered a random cord through Amazon and it arrived today. And it worked! So we are rocking and rolling once again.

what's on tv this week

📺 New Shows

😱 Grotesquerie S1 (FX) — 25 Sep

I'm not a fan of Ryan Murphy... but he tends to always find an audience...

💟 Nobody Wants This S1 (Netflix) — 26 Sep

A Netflix rom-com series starring Kristin Bell and Adam Brody. Again, not for me, but I feel like there's potential here for people looking for this sort of thing.

🎤 Saturday Night Live S50 (NBC) — 28 Sep

SNL returns for it's 50th season! Wild. And to make it even better they have Jean Smart as the guest host. (And Jelly Roll as the musical guest...)

🐦‍⬛ Uzumaki S1 (Adult Swim) — 29 Sep

I don't know anything about this black and white anime, but I've read that people are excited and the few images I've seen look wild. I'm in.

💽 Releases

😶‍🌫️ SURVIVING THE DREAM by FIDLAR

I'm a huge FIDLAR fan—so it was an easy decision to feature this (not to mention it's the only album I've listened to and actually paid attention to so far...)

While this doesn't get to the highs of their debut, I do think it surpasses their second album and is well worth a listen.

this weeks best comic releases

🦸 No. 1's

🐶 Old Dog: Operations (Image)

Declan Shalvey's Old Dog is one of my favorite comics, especially considering he does everything from write, draw, color, and design the book. With this Operations one-shot, he's bringing other writers and artists into the world of Old Dog to tell their own stories. This is exactly the kind of stuff I love to see from creator-owned comics so I'm really hoping it's a success so we get to see more of these moving forward, both from Shalvey and other creators.

🕴️ The Horizon Experiment: The Manchurian (Image)

Another one-shot! This time from Pornsak Pichetshote who is leading this new The Horizon Experiment endeavor. There will be five separate one-shots in this "series" all from different creative teams, kicking off with Pichetshote's The Manchurian where is he joined by the great art team of Terry and Rachel Dodson. The whole jist of The Horizon Experiment is to bring creatives from all different fields to create "series pilots" based on popular genres. This one is a Chinese take on James Bond.

🐤 Survival Street: The Radical Left (Dark Horse)

The second Survival Street mini-series from writer James Asmus, where he is once again joined by artist Abylai Kusainov, kicks off here.

🧟 Creepshow (Image)

Another new Creepshow #1 kicks off here. Since 2022, we've consistently gotten new Creepshow mini-series, whcih I haven't kept up with. However! This #1 is a story from the Kaptara team, Chip Zdarsky and Kagen McLeod.

🥷 Knights vs Samurai (Image)

This isn't actor David Dastmalchian's first foray into writing comic, but if I'm being honest, I find this less interesting than his Count Crowley (which I also didn't read...)

The Missionary (DSTLRY)

And another DSLTRY book that I inevitably won't be able to pick-up digitally... this one from Ryan Stegman (on writing duties) where he is joined by Jason Latour.

movies hitting the big screen this week

🎥 New Movies

🐺 Megalopolis

I've written extensively about my excitement for this film already. I wish Coppola wasn't (allegedly) a big ol' creep, but this still looks wild and bombastic and I need to see it.

🤖 The Wild Robot

The big animated movie of the week and probably the official end of movie summer with the last movie squarely aimed at kids (although it does look pretty enjoyable for all ages as well).

🎤 Saturday Night

Speaking of SNL's 50th anniversary, the new Jason Reitman film about the first SNL episode coming together comes out this week. This one also looks like a ton of hectic fun.

📝 What Else?

That's a wrap! A bit quicker given my time constraint and lack of internet, but still tons of stuff to check out this week.

Be kind and stay sane,
