Welcome to season six of Foofaraw! It's the Foofaraw you know and love, but with a different number attached to it! ๐คฏ
In all seriousness, it's a pretty big deal as we expand our publishing schedule (which is public) and blow out our Thursday short stories with new art and a narrated podcast.
Speaking of podcasts, friends of Foofaraw, Keenan (aka the voice of Foofaraw Frequencies) and Halsted, just launched a brand new one, Friendship Material. The first episode was a delight, you should check it out!

Sandman... well, it's back for a second season (and it's last). There are a lot of complicated emotions when it comes to Sandman given the numerous sexual assault claims against Neil Gaiman going through the courts... John Scalzi did a good job writing about the "best case scenario," which is still pretty terrible. So take all of this with a grain of saltโbut even with his involvement in season two limited, it makes watching this show I was genuinely excited about a lot more difficult for me personally.
Then there's this bonkers anime show back for its second season. I haven't finished season one yet, but it's a wild and fun show that I think will definitely be worth your time.
What if old Black Country, New Road met new Black County, New Road, fell in love, got married, had a baby, and that baby became obsessed with Arctic Monkeys? I think you'd end up with this weird and fascinating record by Ringlets. It's melodic, it's upbeat, and it jams pretty hard with some of that "crank wave" and "post-punk" sound while bringing some of that Britishโor in this case, New Zealandโsensibilities. It's a ton of fun.
I've been a big fan and supporter of Durry when I came across them on Instagram leading up to their previous release. Side note: I highly recommend their terrific blending of Chappell Roan's Hot to Go with Carter Vail's Dirt Man to make the excellent Dirt to Go. I'm not sure this album reaches the same highs as their last, but it's still a really fun rock record.
And then there's Lorde. I'm not a huge fan of Lorde, but can see why people like her music. I think this is her best since her debut album, Pure Heroine.
Chip Zdarsky takes over Mr. Red, White & Blue for Marvel comics. Zdarsky has consistently been one of the best writers in comics these last five years from his big two stuff with Daredevil and Batman, to all his wonderful creator-owned books like Public Domain, Newburn, and tons more. He's taking things back to Cap's origins with this first issue so I'm intrigued to see where he and artist Valerio Schiti take things.
And for X-folks, a giant 64 pager commemorating the last era and setting up the threads coming up over the next year.
I'm not sure The Old Guard really warranted a sequel. It was a bit fun, but mostly fine. But who am I to stop Charlize Theron and a kick-ass cast from adapting more of the Greg Rucka comic book?!?! I imagine this will be more of the sameโa fun action flick with good acting that won't blow anyone away or make any top ten lists, which honestly, we need more of these days. So I guess it did warrant a sequel!
Speaking of not warranting a new sequel... This is one of those franchises that baffles me. Who is still going to these? Why do they keep making new ones??? Pick your animal metaphor: jumping the shark, beating a dead horse, etc. etc. etc. they all apply to Jurassic Park/World at this point. But here we are, putting out some more below average franchise action films...
I don't think this actually looks good, but I'm down for hanging out with Idris Elba and John Cena for 90 minutes, aren't you?
