Welcome to the Gulf of Foofaraw! A body of water so powerful that it supersedes the first amendment. If you refer to it by any other name you'll automatically be banned from this website for eternityβI hear Satan has a [+] subscription though so I'm sure you can bum a login from him while burning in damnation.
Anyways...
There's lots of stuff to talk about across all these wonderful sections so let's get on with it, shall we?
First up, Robert DeNiro stars in Zero Day over on Netflix. This was one of our most anticipated shows for 2025 (and 2024 back when info started to come out about it. It took a little longer to get to us than expected, but now that it's finally here, I'm excited.) DeNiro stars as the former President who is charged with investigating the perpetrators of a giant cyber attack in this six episode mini-series form an experienced creative team and an amazing cast that's far too long to try to list out here.
Imagine a more serious and mature version of Paramore back when they released good music and you'll end up with something that sounds like Winona Fighter on My Apologies to the Chef. It's a propulsive female-vocal punk record that remains accessible and catchy.
Current Favorite Track: You Look Like A Drunk Phoebe Bridgers
The Chicago Hallogallo movement continues with Horesgirl's newest release. I dig their sound, but their mellow, nonchalantness tends to stay in that lane for the entirety of the album when I'm looking for more of a rollercoaster of sound. Still, it's a great release if that's your kind of thing.
Current Favorite Track: Where'd You Go?
And finally, something a little different. Serene Demon is like a cinematic blending of French Pop and Glam Rock; it's just a fun, stylish, and catchy record.
Current Favorite Track: The Traveller
The new James Tynion IV horror book (I feel like I've been saying this at least once a year) is here. Tynion is joined by fellow writer Steve Foxe and artist Piotr Kowalski (Where Monsters Lie) as they dive into this True Weird story about the Jersey Devil in the early 1900's.
The amazing Jamal Campbell is both writing and drawing this new Zatanna on-going. Zatanna seems to be having a bit of a resurgence with last years mini-series and now Jamal Campbell tackling the character.
Joe Casey is ready to make a big splash in the X-World as he continues his return to comics with Wolverine, Deadpool, Cable, Chamber, and Thunderbird in this high action book with art from comics veteran ChrisCross (Blood Syndicate).
Lastly, One World Under Doom continues as Strange Academy gets a new name and is relocated to Latveria from editor turned writer MacKenzie Cadenhead and artist Pasqual Ferry (Heroes for Hire).
Already bought tickets for this one. Couldn't be more excited to see Osgood Perkins follow-up last years Longlegs with a new movie based on a Stephen King short. I really dug Longlegs, but thought it faltered a bit when it wasn't sure what it wanted to be and wasn't confident in it's ending. Now that he's got a blueprint from King and a cast including Theo Hames, Tatiana Maslany, Adam Scott, and Elijah Woods, he should be able to really knock it out of the part with his visual stylings.
This has the energy of a straight to streaming type action flick, unfortunately. I love Clive Owen and am cheering for Daisy Ridley to find a role post Star Wars, but I'm not sure this is going to be the one...
