I would likely be Labradorite because of its colour-shifting abilities. I like to write in different genres and voices.
Looking at the very first line-up way back in Avengers #1, Iron Man would be something refined, so likely metamorphic in the form of an iron-ore deposit. Thor would be uru, not a real metal, but stronger than vibranium and what his hammer is made of. Ant-Man would be no-nonsense sedimentary rock like sandstone. Wasp has a strong fashion sense, so she would likely be a pretty gneiss, a metamorphic rock. Hot-head Hulk would be a green igneous rock, perhaps serpentine.
If you’re going for beauty, Thassos White Marble from Greece is nice.
The story doesn’t have a strong personal connection. It came about because a previous story I shared with my writing group did not go over with some group members. The story was too edgy and dealt with controversial topics. I thought that if I wrote a story about rocks, I couldn’t offend anyone. (Except maybe the rocks.)
One published story I particularly like is “Guardian Angel.” It’s a time-travel supernatural ghost story that deals with acceptance and has a heartfelt ending. It appeared in Wyldblood 13.
I just finished reading All That’s Left by Lisa Guenther, a Canadian author. The novel is about coping with personal trauma.
If you can find any copies, check out my book, Hiding Scars, a historical fiction novel that takes place in Winnipeg from 1913 to 1919. I’d love to get my second novel published, Stealing Amazing Fantasy #15.
