s4e8βthe only gods of power can give life to monsters and intelligence
I think the summer doldrums of TV are finally coming to an end as we finally have a few new shows to check out. On the other side of things, summer movie season appears to be overβthat doesn't mean there aren't some interesting flicks coming out though.
And as always, comics are here to stay with some of the best on-going comics having issues come out this Wednesday.
Let's dive in, shall we?
πΊ New Shows
π° Only Murders in the Building S4 (Hulu) β 27 August
Steve Martin and Martin Short (and Selena Gomez) are back for a fourth season! As shows seem to get fewer and fewer seasons, especially ones with big stars, it's magical when something like this keeps going. Plus Meryl Streep is back again and not only that, but even more big faces are making appearances with Zach Galifianakis, Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Scott Bakula, and Molly Shannon.
β‘ KAOS S1 (Netflix) β 29 August
Jeff Goldblum plays Zeus in a tracksuit...
π€ Terminator Zero S1 (Netflix) β 29 August
Because it apparently wouldn't be foofaraw without some animation, we get a new Terminator show, done in a very anime inspired style with voice actors including Timothy Olyphant, Rosario Dawson, Sonoya Mizuno, and Andre Holland.
π The Rings of Power S2 (Amazon) β 29 August
This is one of those shows that people seem so mixed onβboth individually and as a whole. I got bored with a lot of it, but still love LotR and am interested to see if things get a bit more interesting this time around.

π¦Έ No. 1's
π Universal Monsters: Frankenstein (Skybound)
Skybound has been killing it with the Universal Monsters books and I'm especially excited for this one as Michael Walsh is both writing and drawing. Should be a real fun time.
πͺ Convert (Image)
A new four issue mini-series from John Arcudi (Rumble, BPRD) and an illustrator I'm not familiar with, Savannah Finley, but the cover has me very intrigued for what they might have in store for us in this sci-fi mystery.
𧬠Life (DSTLRY)
I'm pretty tired of talking about DSLTRY, but Life has Brian Azzarello splitting the writing duties with Stephanie Phillips, which I think is pretty cool. Daniel Zezlj is on art duties.
π½ Aliens vs. Avengers (Marvel)
I guess with Alien: Romulus coming out recently, they need the Avengers to help take things up a notch? This is a book I definitely won't be reading, but Marvel has done some cool things with the Alien property in comics recently.
π BRZRKR: The Lost Book of B (Boom)
You can't stop Keanu from pumping out new BRZRKR books these days.

π₯ New Movies
πΉ My First Film
A lot of meta-ness happening here that looks like it could be super interesting and the early buzz is also very positive.
Fact bleeding into fiction, and past, present, and future converging to create a modern myth that redefines the very act of creation.
π« The Falling Star
This came out back in January in France, but it looks like a ton of fun. Honestly, I think it's best if we just leave it there. This is going high on my watchlist.
π€ Afraid
I feel like the AI horror thing has been overdone already, but here's another one starring John Cho...
π₯ Slingshot
Casey Affleck and Laurence Fishborne in an under-the-radar sci-fi flick? Not sure if it's getting dumped out there or if it's just a smaller studio that hasn't been able to build a lot of buzz around it. Or both...
π€ Tokyo Cowboy
Yellowstone meets Pachinko? Yeah, I think I can get behind this.
That's a wrap! Bit of a weird week, but hopefully there are somethings to keep you entertained.
Let me know what you're checking out!
Be kind and stay sane,
βhumdrum
